The Student Learning Imperative (1994) - a modern theory of Student Development, emphasizes the importance of out-of-classroom learning, in the holistic approach to student development. Therefore every staff member who interacts with students at whatever level, needs to see her/himself as an educator, with an essential role in student learning. The Caribbean Tertiary Level Personnel Association (C.T.L.P.A.) was born out of the need for student services personnel at the tertiary institutions to:
The primary focus of the C.T.L.P.A. is to foster timely development of a student centred culture in educational institutions at the tertiary level across the Caribbean. The Association will network with student services personnel within those institutions so as to enhance their role as educators and encourage the highest levels of professionalism. |
