Call for Papers: C.T.L.P.A 19th Annual Conference

The Caribbean Tertiary Level Personnel (C.T.L.P.A) will host its 19th Annual Conference on June 15-18, 2016 under the theme “Caribbean Student Services Professionals: Renewing our Commitment, Expanding our Reach". The venue this year will be the Hilton Rose Hall Resort & Spa Montego Bay, Jamaica.

An invitation is extended to faculty, student services personnel, resident advisors, graduate students, university and college administrators, representatives from the private and public sector and other interested individuals, to submit proposals for presentation at the conference. Proposal Submission DEADLINE: February 19, 2016.

Guidelines for Proposals

Conference proposals should be in keeping with the theme “Caribbean Student Services Professionals: Renewing our Commitment, Expanding our Reach" and should highlight one or more of the following:

  • 1. Research relevant to student learning outcomes 2. Professionalism and best practices in student learning and development 3. New directions in Caribbean Higher Education Example: Technology, Leadership, Residence life, Academic Support, Career Development, Sports, Finance, Outreach. 4. Customer service

Types of Presentation

Presentations should fall in one of the following categories:

  • Main Presentation - 1 hour (inclusive of question and answer session)
  • Concurrent Session – 45 minutes (inclusive of a question and answer session)
  • Showcase - highlighting best practices in programme delivery - 30 minutes (inclusive of a question and answer session)

Proposals

The Proposal should include an Abstract of no more than 250 words and should outline the learning outcomes. An abstract must reflect the content of the presentation accurately and must correlate to the listed topics and key words. It must include all information considered necessary by the presenter to merit the selection of the paper. Topics may include but are not limited to:

  • Research and Publication in Higher Education in the Caribbean
  • Distance Education
  • Impact of Student Support in Advancing Higher Education in the Caribbean
  • Use of Assessment in Advancing Higher Education in the Caribbean
  • Ethical Principles and Standards for Student Services Personnel (SSPs)
  • How Tertiary Level Institutions (Community Colleges, Teachers Colleges, National Training Agencies) impact students
  • Designing programmes that foster holistic Student Learning and Development
  • Reinforcements in Learning through Co-Curricular programmes
  • Government Policy and its impact on Higher Education
  • The use of Technology in programme development: Making the connection
  • Globalization: A New direction for Caribbean Higher Education
  • New trends in Customer Service in Higher Education
  • Financing Higher Education: Non Traditional Approaches
  • Faith Based Organizations and Higher Education
  • Facilitating International Students
  • Emerging Trends in Student Personnel Administration
  • Entrepreneurship – Job Creation
  • Student Personnel Administrators and Wellness
  • Community Service/Service Learning
